I don’t think this should be an issue. When the Reverend Wright thing came out I said a pastor’s views shouldn’t be held against a member of his congregation. It would be hypocritical to say the opposite now.

This is also my general problem with Keith Olbermann. I know he wants to be an Edward R. Murrow, but I think he’s much more like a liberal version of Bill O’Reilly. The right-wing media do some despicable things, but the correct response is NOT to use their own tools of manufactured outrage and character assassination against them.

If Palin would come out and deny that witches exist and condemn Muthee’s witch hunts, I would totally agree. I don’t think it was inappropriate to ask Obama to reject what Wright said. Once that happened, people should have dropped the subject. But I’m not sure that Palin doesn’t agree with Muthee. That’s what may make this a very different case.
