50 Gmail invites

I have 50 Gmail invites now. Anybody want one?

Fixed?

I think the web site may be working normally now. Comments weren't working and for a few hours this afternoon, the whole website was down (along with every website hosted by Powweb.com).

video.google.com

video.google.com - Google is now indexing transcripts on TV shows. The search results include images from the show (no video yet). So far it looks like it doesn't actually have full transcripts. For example, last night's Everwood only has two paragraphs of text. This is still in beta, though. Yahoo has a video search, but it seems more like images.google.com. It just searches within regular web pages for video clips. Blinkx.tv is another option, and it also searches for video, not for text within television programs. If I were searching for a video clip, I would use one of the latter two, but if I were looking for some infomation that I think was on TV, I would go with Google.

Really Slick Screen Savers

Really Slick Screen Savers - Here are some nice screen savers. Skyrocket is what I'm using now. So pretty.

My desk last week

This is a picture of my desk one day last week. Pictured (left to right) are my bosses laptop, the computer we're giving away one lucky online banking customer, my laptop, the second monitor for my laptop (used for terminal services sessions mostly), and one of our servers. Only the last three are at my desk normally, but since I had all of them there I thought I would snap a picture. My job is fun.

Spreading Ubuntu

I was talking with a bank customer and he asked me what operating system I used at home. I told him that I use Ubuntu Linux at the moment. He said he found a deal for Windows XP pro for $160. I reached into my drawer and pulled out one of the cds that Ubuntu gave it to him. He said he had tried Redhat and Mandrake before, but had problems getting it to work with his hardware. He said he would give Ubuntu a try. I was so excited to learn that I'm not the only Linux user in town. Maybe we can start our own Adrian LUG.

Make us Laugh contest

A couple of friends and fellow Truman alumni have a contest running on their LiveJournal: wardx2: Make us laugh. Send in your entries and win fabulous prizes. Keep in mind that they have a strange sense of humor.

512 MB Thumb drive

I got a 512 MB thumb drive for Christmas from my parents. I'm looking for some cool things to do with it. Any ideas?

Personman.com

I posted a few days ago about picking a new domain name, and I finally settled on one: personman.com.

I was going to try and fix it up a little before I shared it with the world, but eh.

TechTV, you are dead to me

Maybe you're getting tired of me talking about the way that G4 has messed up the best network and the best show on tv, but I had to post this link: Check out this mp3. Leo Laporte, former host of the Screen Savers and TechTV / ZDTV veteran actually refers to the G4 programming as "garbage." He also predicts that they won't be on the air much longer. I wish it would go off the air so the people responsible for killing TechTV could lose their money. But the network is already dead to me.
