Alright, enough is enough. I’m shutting her down, boys (and girls). After over 700 comments, the most recent of which seem designed to make me feel like a hell-bound, cynical loser, I’ve decided that the world is just not ready for this post. Also, I stopped caring about the topic a long time ago. I don’t post on this blog anymore because it has caused me trouble at various jobs, and now I guess I won’t be commenting either. To those of you who actually get the inner workings of my mind: thank you for your support and words of encouragement. To the rest of you, to quote Eric Cartman (and, to a lesser extent, to make you feel the way you continue to make me feel), “You go to hell. You go to hell and you die.” Goodnight, everybody.

I have to say, I only read about a fifth of these comments, but wow. I know after a church service I used to always have something to say about the music, too long, don’t like that song, worship leader sucks, you name it. I think everyone is guilty of that. But I have been working on it and now, I try to just come away with the positives. I know it sounds lame. But thats not really the point. God rejoices when one person gives there life to the Lord, or when one lost soul finds its way back, or when one person has a close encounter with Him. So it doesn’t matter whether you think these lyrics don’t fit the melody, or the song is awkward or too “simple". Not everyone is in the same place in there life or spiritual walk and they may need the songs that you people label as “the worst” worship songs. How would they feel if they stumbled across this feed? Its not hard to find, I googled “the best worship songs” to see what people thought or what songs they were touched by and this site was the third link. The whole point of worship, whether through singing, or praying, preaching, even dancing, it doesn’t matter how you worship as long as your give all of your worship sincerely to God. If you don’t care for the song that is being sang, I’m sorry. I know its tough to stand there and listen to something you don’t enjoy. But maybe someone there is enjoying it, so pray for them, see to it that they get the most out of it. If we all got what we wanted all the time then there would be a lot more Christians in the world today. Unfortunately we don’t always get what we want, God calls us to sacrifice what we want for Him and for others. I understand the need to critically examine songs and styles of worship. But it should be done on a case by case basis so that they outcome is what is best for each church because what is currently needed at my church, may not be what is need at your. I’m sorry if this has been said already, but I needed to say it.

i agree wit steph. if you are praising the lord you should not be judging the song as you go along . people are not perfect and there for will not write the most perfect worsip song ever. christianity is not based off of your own opinion. its just about living a good life and praising the lord. i do not follow the bible perfectly and i have done bad things but saying a christian song is stupid, is extremily dumb. im only 13 so i havent even herd half of these song but even if you do hear a “bad” christian song u should think “im praising the lord” not “wow this song is stupid and doesnt make sence.

Hello, critics! If you don’t like a song…don’t sing it. The truth is, you may hear it again someday in a different light. I used to groan every time I heard “Shout to the Lord"–it was so overdone. Then, at a low point in my life, KLTY in Dallas played it again, and “my Comfort, my Shelter, Tower of refuge and Strength” lifted me up and actually brought tears to my eyes…I couldn’t believe it was the same song I had always sung. I guess I’m just saying, worship songs aren’t written to be chart-toppers…they are an expression of praise from the heart of an individual believer, and if you can join in, wonderful–if not, find songs you can join in worship on, and don’t judge the others.

What is Christianity? I am under the impression that being a Christian is to be Christ-like. There are many different ways to worship and everyone has their own definition of worship. So, to criticize the way one person worships is like criticizing how one person looks. We have no control over the way we look but we must either embrace it or shun it. But God tells us we are made in His image and are considered beautiful to Him. So if He made us unique in looks, wouldn’t He also make us unique in the way we worship Him. I happen to love the songs that speak of being desperate for Him because many of us are desperate for Him in one way or another. Some are desperate for Him to forgive them. Others are desperate for an answer to their prayers. Maybe we should all consider the catchy (but somewhat overused) term: What Would Jesus Do?

maybe you should stop and listen to the words? who cares how it sounds or what it reminds you of, thats not the point, its the point of wroshipping God, and if you cant see that then I think you should rethink your priorities, maybe instead of criticizing, pray. At least these people try to make songs to worship with, and honestly, all of them are good because they are for God.

God warns us repeatedly not to criticize, compare or judge one another. When you criticize what someone else is doing in sincere faith, you’re out of your jurisdiction! Listen: “What right do you have to criticize someone else’s servants? Only their Lord can decide if they are doing right” (Rom. 14:4 CEV).

A critical spirit is a costly vice.

This site makes me sad. :(
